Job Description:
As the VP of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for a team comprised of software, hardware, acoustic, and system test engineers to develop solutions that will enable innovative and compelling experiences for customers. You will be a key contributor in defining and implementing the product roadmap, therefore you must possess a firm understanding of the key strategic elements of the commercial audio market. Also helpful, but not required, is familiarity with communication technologies utilized by the company’s key K-12 educational market.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management: Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Develop and implement integrated engineering strategies and processes to achieve company goals.
Mentor and develop team members, ensuring skill development and career growth across software and hardware disciplines.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to define the engineering roadmap for both software and hardware products.
Ensure alignment of engineering objectives with the overall business strategy.
Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance both software and hardware development.
Product Development: Oversee the design, development, testing, and maintenance of integrated software and hardware solutions.
Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of products that meet market and customer needs.
Manage the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, including both software and hardware components.
Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support to both engineering and manufacturing teams.
Ensure robust and scalable architecture and design practices.
Oversee the resolution of technical issues and challenges across both software and hardware domains.
Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage the engineering budget.
Allocate resources efficiently to meet project and business objectives.
Ensure cost-effective utilization of development resources.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between engineering and other departments.
Interact with customers to address product issues and keep a finger on the pulse of evolving product needs in the company’s core markets
Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Represent the engineering function in executive meetings and presentations.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Implement and oversee quality assurance processes for both software and hardware.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.
Advanced technical and managerial certifications are a plus.
Experience: Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role.
Extensive experience in both software and hardware product development and engineering management.
Experience in the commercial audio or communications industry is preferred.
