Job Overview:

The Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting the sales team and collaborating on the technical strategy for the company’s sales initiatives. This role will work collaboratively with the sales team to develop solutions that meet customer needs, ensure successful product adoption, and drive revenue growth. The Sales Engineer will also serve as a key technical resource for customers, provide strategic guidance to the sales team, and help shape the company’s product offerings to align with market demands.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Sales Technical Support:

  • Partner with the sales team to understand customer needs and develop tailored technical solutions that align with customer requirements, systems architectures, and compatibility with the company’s product portfolio.
  • Creation and delivery of technical presentations, product demonstrations, and webinars to effectively showcase the capabilities of the company’s solutions.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations for complex customer proposals, ensuring the technical aspects of the solutions are well-communicated and feasible.

Solution Design & System Configuration:

  • Assist with the design and configuration of solutions for customers, including system architectures, product selection, and ensuring compatibility with the company’s portfolio.
  • Work closely with customers to identify and define their specific needs and develop customized solutions, while ensuring alignment with technical standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to ensure solutions meet customer expectations and deliver successful outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with sales, product management, and engineering teams to ensure product requirements are effectively communicated, solutions meet expectations and deliver successful customer outcomes.
  • Provide feedback on market trends, customer needs, and product enhancements to inform the company’s strategic planning and product development.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials and product documentation that highlight the company’s technical capabilities.

Training & Development:

  • Lead internal training initiatives to ensure the sales team is equipped with up-to-date technical knowledge of company products and solutions, and provide ongoing coaching for the sales team to continuously improve skills and performance.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key customers, ensuring a positive experience throughout the sales process.
  • Serve as the escalation point for technical issues during the sales process, offering timely resolution and keeping the customer informed.
  • Help ensure that the post-sale handoff to implementation and support teams is seamless.

Reporting:

  • Track and report on sales engineering activities, pipeline progress, and customer feedback to the Vice President of Sales.
  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement across the sales team to meet both team and company-wide objectives.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Experience in sales engineering, solutions architecture, or technical sales.
  • Experience in communications, audio systems, or similar technology industries, with a strong understanding of the company’s markets (e.g., mass notification, paging, audio solutions).
  • Proven track record of success in supporting a sales team, driving revenue, and managing complex customer requirements.

Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience with designing, configuring, and supporting communication and audio systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality, customer-centric solutions.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and maintain a customer-focused approach.
  • Familiarity with CRM software, sales tools, and performance tracking.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced technical certifications (e.g., CTS, CCNA, RCCD) or an MBA is a plus.

Travel:

  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, and team collaboration.
