Description:

Our client is a facilities-based voice and data carrier providing telecommunications services, Outbound, Toll Free, DID, SMS, CCaaS, UCaaS, Number Reputation Management services to commercial clients worldwide. They are hiring a Network Engineer for North America.  In this position, you will support their voice (VoIP) and data network and managed customer networks as they pertain to services provided by the company.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provisions and maintains advanced Dedicated Customer and Carrier connections
  • Performs routine maintenance and grooming of VoIP network infrastructure
  • Collaborate with all aspects of IT organization including; Voice and Network Engineers, Tier 1-2 support staff to resolve trouble tickets and mitigate end-user issues with SIP Trunking
  • Configure and optimize secure telephony, including multi-vendor telecommunications and networking products to include all voice switches and data network hardware at the intermediate and/or expert level
  • Design, review, analyze, evaluate and assist with the ongoing maintenance and evolution of Broadband Dynamic’s IP and voice infrastructure
  • Perform both oral and written knowledge transfer and training to technical team members, and other stakeholders
  • Monitors and responds to network troubles, outages, and events (on-call schedule)
  • Monitor and maintain company wide area network (Juniper, Brocade)
  • Monitor and maintain company Virtual Infrastructure (VMware)
  • Monitor and maintain customer networks (Juniper, Cisco, Adtran, TelcoBridge, Cato SASE)
  • Assist with management and oversight of the company’s voice network infrastructure including, PBX, SBCs and Media Gateways
  • Troubleshoot company and customer network issues
  • Turn-up new services for customers (MPLS, Multilink DS1, DIA, SIP Trunking)
  • Coordinate turn-ups, testing, troubleshooting and repair of data circuits with various carriers.
  • Generate test plans based on network design requirements
  • Publish test reports for peer and executive review
  • Produce network procedures and configuration guides for use by Network Engineering & Operations, promoting consistency across the network
  • Maintain and expand documentation on company and customer networks (Visio, SharePoint)
  • Maintain company network monitoring and management system (Solarwinds)
  • Execute and manage related projects as directed by senior IT team members or management

Required Skills:

  • At least three to five years of Networking experience
  • A detailed understanding of TCP/IP protocols and IPv4.
  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.)
  • Routing Policies and policies at BGP peering points.
  • Ethernet switching and 802.1q, QoS
  • VPNs and associated tunneling technologies (MPLS, VPLS, IKE/IPsec, GRE, etc.)
  • An understanding of Remote VPN’s and Multi-Factor Authentication
  • Detailed understanding of Stateful Firewalls, Policies, and NAT.
  • An understanding of SD-WAN & SASE fundamentals.
  • Experience using packet generators and analyzers: Ethereal, Wireshark, etc.
  • Experience with carrier Ethernet installation and testing
  • Meticulous lab testing capabilities, including generating test plans based on technical requirements
  • Experience in service provider network implementations such as Dynamic Routing Protocols, MPLS, Voice Prioritization, Carrier grade redundancy design; Layer 2 and Layer 3 Networking and IP address Management & Assignment
  • Proficiency with Juniper MX & SRX series (JNCIP or better or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency with Cisco routers & switches (CCNP or better or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with major carriers
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Independent and self-motivated.

Preferred Skills:

  • Solarwinds experience a plus.
  • VMware/VSphere experience a plus.
  • Windows System Administration experience is a plus.
  • Experience with SBC’s
  • Experience working with Hosted PBX or IP PBX
  • Command level knowledge of UNIX & Linux OS and architecture
  • Advanced knowledge of VOIP/SIP
  • Experience with Voice Media Gateways such as Adtran, Cisco, Sonus, Audio Codes, Genband or similar
  • Experience with Telecommunications wiring and Telecommunication switch/PBX programming
  • Experience with T1, PRI, and DS3 installation and testing
